


Children's Classes
Youth $10 Summer Art Classes:
Thanks to a generous donation from the Gerber and DTE Energy Foundations,
Nuveen can offer all youth summer camp classes for $10/week! Enjoy this
“retrospective pricing” in honor of the Arts Council of White Lake’s 25th
Anniversary. Students will be grouped by age after registration. Please register by the
Thursday before class start dates (feel free to call after this deadline - we may be able
to accomodate you!)
July 12 – 15 – Art and Animals with Missy Morrow
Ages 6+: At each class, we will have a different animal on hand to inspire the day’s
lesson. Animals will include chickens, a miniature pony, and others. Students will
learn about the critter and do a colorful and creative art project relating to our animal
friend. 4-5:15 p.m. CLASS FULL!
July 19-22 – Painting and Drawing with Katrina Vogler
Ages 6+: In this structured course, students will explore the world of drawing, and
expand on these skills during painting lessons. Students will learn color mixing,
highlighting, brushstroke techniques, basic perspective, and will leave each class with
a finished piece. 10-11:15 a.m. CLASS FULL!
July 26 – 29 Paper Mache with Carolyn Bone
Ages 6+: Paper Mache is an easy and inexpensive way to create fantastic 3-D items!
Students will learn how to make“bones” for their structure, mix and apply the paper
mache, and paint their final products after it dries. Students will do projects such as a
piggy bank, bowl, mask, or building. July 26-29, 10-11:30 a.m. Few Spots

August 2-5: In Honor of Whitehall’s Sesquicentennial – Local History and Art Week
facilitated by Linda Busse
Ages 7+: This multi-disciplinary class will introduce students to the history of the
White Lake area, including studies of Native Americans, the Lumbering Era, our
farming roots, and the summer tourist trade. A new focus each day, with and projects
such as: Native American beadwork, pottery, and weaving. 10-11:30 a.m.
August 9-12: Chalk Pastels with Carolyn Bone Ages 7+
Nuveen’s Pure Color – A Pastel Exhibit will be on the walls, and students will be
inspired to try their own hand at pastels! This beautiful medium can create
wonderfully colored pieces, and students will use it to create landscapes, florals, and
abstract pieces. 10 – 11:30 a.m.
August 16-19: Plushies with Missy Morrow Age 8+
Make a template for and design your own stuffed toy! We will provide all the basics
and fun embellishments to create your own plush creation. Bring any extras you may
have to decorate your creation - buttons, ribbon, beads, fabric scraps, etc. 11 a.m. – 12
p.m.
August 16 - 19: Young Artists II with Carolyn Bone
Ages 3-6: Another mixed media class for the wee ones. Classes will be different than the
June 28 - July 1 session, so students are welcome to take both! 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Canvas Art Collage with Carolyn Bone Ages 10+
Learn how to create one-of-a-kind piece of art on canvas, ready for framing and
display! Start with acrylic paint and add photographs, magazine clippings, fabric, or
other favorite items to provide inspiration and incorporate into your final piece
(please bring these items). Thurs., August 19, 5:30-7 p.m. Fee: $8 Materials: $5
Art Can Be Messy!!! Please send your children to class in appropriate art clothing
